Hi!
So, I am Emma – born a Kiwi, most definitely very Australian; I have spent the better part of a decade living and working in London and now I am living in the US – and you guessed it, this is my site.
This website has gone through many incantations and redesigns (and I am sure that it will go through many more). Originally I started what was called “The Adventures of the Jammy Dodger” in April of 2005 when I moved from Sydney to London. I had heard of blogs before but confess that I didn’t really know too much about them. When I looked into them a little more, it just seemed like a much cooler way than a group email of keeping friends and family back in Australia up to date with the goings on in my life
Almost English
Think Prince. Almost English is the site that was formerly known as….. The name Almost English came about because – well, I was… Most if the ramblings under Almost English are about my adventures and shenanigans whilst living in London and traveling the world. And boy we had some. I have so many fond memories of the years that I spent in London that, when I recently redesigned this site, I actually struggled with the thought of giving up the name. So I decided that I would keep the Almost English name for any of my antics and ramblings going forward
The Photography
I have always loved photography. I am not sure why, and it is not like I have early memories of loving the art but I from high school onwards it was always present in my life. Over the years I have taken more and more interest in taking and editing my now many millions of photos – and with that I was sharing more and more of my photos online. Now one could ask why I didn;t just share the photos online on Flickr, Picasa or even Facebook. OCD is the answer. Wanting to make sure that my photos are sorted and presented in a way that I am happy with… And so under Photography, you will find galleries and galleries of photos, and those galleries are grouped into albums – for example, Out of Africa spans 3 decades of travel and more than 10 countries.
And there you have it, this mash mash of a life – the travel, adventures, and good times (and maybe some not so great) all brought together through the cathartic ramblings of a slightly mad Aussie bird and the many hours spent using Lightroom
