Almost Definitely English

“Four Score and seven years ago…”  actually, let us just make that “Almost 5 years ago…”, I started off on a bit of an adventure.

The adventure saw me getting run over by HOT men driving german-made sports cars; battle with accents as locals tried to pick me up; attending euro-trash balls and having nights out that well, maybe in retrospect I shouldn’t have written about; living and working through both financial and personal crisis’s; travelling the world for work and pleasure; earning the nickname “Jammy Dodger” and, making some brilliant friends along the way.

That adventure was moving from Sydney to London on a wing and a prayer.  And, well, now I am about to embark on the next stage of the adventure.

On January 22nd, almost 10 years to the day that I became an Australian citizen, I will be heading on over to Wimbledon to answer random questions on Scousers and Cockney Slang, the beloved Tube system and the English minorities (do I count as one???).  I will quizzed on the history of British politics, education, women’s rights and all things pop-culture (please note that Cheryl Cole is not in the Official Handbook – nor is Posh).

Yes, I will be sitting the Life in the UK Exam.  Believe it or not, the time is here for me to officially become a permanent resident of the UK
